does nerve damage heal?

about 2 months ago, a dog bit me on my hand.  it wasn't too damaged, and it healed nicely, but my middle finger feels dead or asleep on one side.  i'm assuming this means i have nerve damage, but i can still use my finger so i'm not too worried, though i would really like to know if this is something that will heal.  i didn't go to a doctor for it, i don't have insurance and can't afford treatment right now.  as i said, i'm not too worried, mainly just curious and would appreciate some feedback!

I experienced some nerve damage after a root canal and my face was numb for about 3 months.  eventually, the feeling came back....but not 100%.  more like 95%.  this happened when i was 26 and the doctor said if i were 16, it would have healed faster.

Hi,

Numbness in the middle finger indicates nerve impingement. This can occur due to carpal tunnel syndrome. This type of numbness is seen on doing repetitive movements, and working on the computer.
Usually the symptoms can be controlled to a large extent by regular exercise, B complex supplements and short treatment with NSAIDS like Motrin.
It will help to get a clinical evaluation done.

Thanks
