familial vertigo

my sisters hustand has been suffering from very severe vertigo on an off for months at a time..the episodes last weeks. His mom and sister also have similar problems..what is it..could it be genetic???

thank you so much..Yes he sometimes has migraines but not always with the vertigo..He is physically active also I forgot to mention as is 62 years old. What could they do for this????I appreciate all your help as he is miserable

Hello.

There is a condition called as Familial Benign Recurrent Vertigo. Other family members are known to suffer from it if one member of the family has it.

This condition is associated with Migraine in many cases. Does he have headaches too?
