having IV inserted hit major nerve to my thumb

i was in my local ER and required an IV the nurse stuck the iv in the bend of my arm as she was pushing the iv in she hit a nerve and i screamed as i never have had this happen and it was the worst pain ever. the IV was not removed it was left in as the nurse felt it was ok.  15 or so minutes later my who upper bicept was rock hard as the iv fluid had infiltrated my arm from blowing the vein out. since removal of the iv i can not grab lift or rotate my thumb in a full range. What should i do knowing they hit the nerve and now i have limited use of my thumb .

There is a ninety-nine percent chance that after a few weeks everything will completely return to normal. But there is a big missing piece here. That missing piece is "what medication was being infused". Some medications can cause necrosis of tissue and real damage. You have to find this information out. If the infusion was normal saline or D5W, the arm will return to normal with a few days. If, however the medication was one that causes necrosis of tissue you may have longer-lasting problems.
