Strange numbness

A few years ago, while I was doing some housework I got a very strange sensation in the head, it was (this sounds strange but when I was young my big brother made me his personal 9volt battery tester) like the feeling you get when you put your tongue on a 9 volt battery. It lasted about 30 seconds and then went away, it ws followed by a slight dizzy spell and then nothing. Through the years then I've experianced them but recently I've gotten them quite frequently. I went to my doctor and they did an MRI and didn't notice anything in my brain, that would cause such a thing, but its really scary when it happens. any ideas??

Hello.

This symptom of strange sensation on the tongue can be part of a number of conditions. It could be a demyelinating condition. Demyelination is when the protective myelin sheath of the neurons is damaged and removed.

This could also be due to certain vitamin deficiencies. Specifically Vitamin B12 is implicated.

Only an MRI will not be helpful. You should do routine blood investigations to start with. Consult a Neurologist if the sensation persists.

Regards
