hemofacial spasm

My mother  age is 62 years. From last 02 year she is having twitching near her left eye together with pain in her head-right side.We consulted one doctor in New Delhi  of a very good hospital. As per the doctor she is having hemofacial spasm and the treatment he suggested are some medicines--Zenoxa or Botox injections but they are temporary.Kindly suggest is botox injections can really work for longer time .

Hello Doctor,
Thanks for the advise.Actually there is no specific reason as per doctors may be due to migraine or depression or due to lesser blood flow in some blood vessels.Although she was not having any migraine history , but she used to get depressed a lot ! you can say habit of taking tensions,so this may be the reason.Anyway thanks again for taking out time.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello and hope you are doing well.

Boxtox injections do not provide a permanent cure. Check to rule out if there is any facial nerve palsy. It is the nerve which supplies the muscles of the face.  The nerve can get swollen, inflamed, or compressed, resulting in facial weakness or paralysis. The can cause inadequate closure of the eye, drooping of the mouth and dribbling of saliva. Also, her symptoms could be due to a migraine. Discuss these options with your doctor when you happen to meet him next time.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
