memory loss in 19 yr old?

Hi,

I'm a 19 year old male. lately i've noticed some odd neurological symptoms. for some reason i'm noticing that half of the time, after leaving the bathroom, i'll find that i've forgotten to zip up my fly. this can be embarassing, but more than that, its concerning. most of the time i'll forget unless i consciously try and remember. this has been going on, on and off, for about two months. the pants i'm wearing don't seem to make any difference, and trying to we-write this by consciously remembering over and over doesn't seem to make it automatic or hard-wire it in. the only other thing i've experienced like this is noticing that i'll have the tendency to leave L's out of my words when i hand-write. my verbal memory also seems to be sub-par as of late. aside from these, i've recently developed a twitch (it feels like my brain or spinal cord twitching, but it may be neck muscles) that seems to be triggered by anxiety and mostly happens when i'm speaking to people. i don't have any other twitches other than the ones i get when i read very quickly (and mostly involve my lower limbs) and have been around for a longer time. I was diagnosed with adhd as a kid, am often lethargic, often feel dizzy after standing up, and probably suffer from depression. over the last two years i've had a fair amount of toe/leg numbness but thats mostly subsided. I'm trying to figure out if i should see a neurologist or not, and am curious if this sounds like i could have a brain leison of sorts, or what this could be. i'm not on any meds. thanks!

Hello, I am a 19 year old male, and I have came to a big problem in my life... it seems that i do the same thing every single day wake up and waste my days doing nothing but staying inside....It seems I have lost the urge to really do anything with my life, and so I rarely leave my house now adays.. Mostly all I do is sit at a computer and Produce Electronic music and somewhat talk to a few people a day. But thats not whats fully bothering me, whats bothering me is that lately, I have not been able to remember simple words and tasks that I try to do or say, and when I am about to say something to someone I find myself sometimes saying a word or sentence that has nothing to do with what I was trying to get at. Also I find myself having alot of problems typing or writing. I put words that have nothing to do with anything and are fully random. and at times when i try my best to find out simple words like Diagnosed, i guess the words like Dyignosed, stuff like that.. also Find myself saying inproper words and sentences like: i will sink the dishes, instead of soak them. ANOTHER HUGE thing thats worrying me is my loss of consentration... I literally cannot consentrate. What the hell is wrong with me?

Hi,

Thanks for writing in.
It does not seem to be a neurological lesion as of now. These symptoms can be due to acute anxiety and stress. I would suggest you to do some memory enhancing exercises like solving puzzles; learn a new language or a musical instrument. These activities are known to enhance memory.
Also make sure you have a healthy lifestyle. Eat healthy and sleep on time. If your condition does not improve please consult your PCP. Take care!
