Thank you for your question. Usually, muscle cramps are common in salt imbalance, circulatory problems, with certain medications, excessive cold temperature, whilst you are relaxed or resting, during or after exercise, or after sitting in an uncomfortable position. Most of the times, they are not related to any underlying disorder but needs checking out with a doctor to assess that your leg circulation and nerve supply are working appropriately. Meanwhile, I would suggest eat a diet rich in fruit and vegetables, vitamin E & zinc supplement, drink at least eight glasses of water in a day and avoid smoking. Hope this helps.

Hello,
I appreciate your help. Yes its Benign Fascicualtion sysdrome. My Dr. gave me Neurontin because of my Muscle Cramps, I should look into it again. I cannot take Oxycotins because of my Kidneys, they  are in the last stages,so iam very carefull of what to take.. I had a Muscle Biposy done a few yrs ago, its showed some type of Mitochondrial Muscle disease.,but when they send it out to the Lab,which took 4 months, before the results came back, they said ti was normal, that when it was dx as BFS.
Yesterday,I went back to the gym to swim and the cramps started up again, and I could not even get out of the pool, now my muscle are really hurting today, trying to walk and work is so busy. Were you DX with BFS? What caused your damage in your spine.
Thank you & Best Regards,
Wedad

Hello,
Are you experiencing a lot of pain from the BFS? I have been on Neurontin before for nerve damage in my spine and have heard it can cause muscle cramps in some people. I have also heard, and I don't usually sway people in this direction on MedHelp, but Opiates, such as Oxycontin, are very helpful for your condition. I am assuming you are speaking of Benign fasciculation syndrome? Correct?
