neck,back,shoulder pain

i have pain in my neck goin down my left arm and down my back i get the tingglin in my  arm and not to long ago i got it on my left side face that freaked me out..this all started out of no where well my mri i not sure but they told me 2 bulge disk left side and a herniated disk rite side but all my pain is in my left side my shoulder my left arm my stiff neck narcotics get me really sick so only takin flexral,naproxen notin to strong for pain that sucks cus i cant sleep all nite any inside please thanks

Omg i understand where you come from i take tramdol some times it works a little bit but thepercocet got me sick sick sick and the vidicon also. my doctor wants me to take some pills for 2 weeks and then go back i think its voltarn 75mg i guess i'll give this a try and wait and see wat happens..i also get swelling on my shoulder anda lot of heat in neck back arm i will try the chair maybe i will be able to sleep for once again thank you hope your well or getting better

Annie i have been where you are. I didnt find anything that could take the pain away completely and sleep was one of my most precious assets i needed to heal. What i suggest you try is to sleep in more of a sitting up position with lots of pillows to support your back and one under your neck to keep it in a good comfortable position. I even ended up sitting up on the couch like that too with about five pillows. You can also prop your arms up on a pillow.
This should help relieve the pain and numbness in your arms. I had to readjust the pillows each nite so that when the ache was gone i could sleep. If your dr suggests a neck brace this may help too in the early stages. They can be purchased in a store and they are cheap. They are uncomfortable but when you need to give your neck a rest they work great. I slept in mine for about 2 weeks until i could manage without it.
I couldnt handle the side effects of tylenol 3 so they tried me on something called Tramadol. It was less upsetting to my stomach and helped to give some relief. i even tried percocet but i had to make sure i ate well before taking it as i had a really bad nite on a empty stomach and ended up being sick to my stomach and you can imagine how hard that is on a sore neck!
