i had rotator cuff surgery today around 1pm it is 9:30 and my entire arm is so numb I can't even find it without looking i am a little afraid?
I am a 38 year old male. I had shoulder surgery a little over a year now, and shortly after I started having numbness in my arm from my neck to my hand. My fingers turn cold and numb, also I have sharp pain. Perticulerly when I lift anything. This has been going on now for a year. I've seen 3 Neurologist and they say it is permanent because of the duration and servairity. However they claim it came from my accident, but I didn't have these symptoms before the surgery. They even called it Brachial Plexopathy. Could this be a result from the Nerve Block? If so is there anyway to repair, or improve my condition? I am a truck driver of 14 years and now they say I can no longer drive a semi again.
i had suregry on my shoulder 28 hours ago and 3 fingers on my hand are still numb. is this normal?
Hello.
Most people recover from the nerve block in 2 to 5 hours. Your may be a rare incidence of a delay in the recovery. Sometimes while giving the injection, the needle may harm a few nerves. During the injection, if you feel a sudden sharp pain or sensation in the upper limb, you may consider a needle induced damage. Did anything of that sort happen with you?
Has the block cleared now?
