neurocysticercosis, carbamazepine . cysts

hi,
i had suffered from partial seizures when i was 13 years old . i soon started carbamazepine ( 600 mg).i was diagonosed with a cyst in the brain( doc said due to a parasite's egg reaching the brain, neurocysticercosis) .After a year i gradually  stopped the course and was fine for 7 months when i had a partial seiure again. this time the mris showed that the cyst had vanished( i had taken sm meds fr that in the beginning) and my eeg was normal too. i started carbamazepine again. after 2 years i had reduced it to 100 mg/ day which was way below the effective dose and continued fine for 1.5 years. but then again got partial seizures one day. my all tests were clear including mri , ct , eeg. the doctors couldn't understand the reason behind the recurring cysts.( the doctors were good, from the leading hospitals) . however now after another 2 years of the medicine i have stopped it completely and am ok since over a year.

now i wished to know why i was having those recurring seizures though everything was alright in the tests and whether i can live without carbamazepine or am i stuck with it for life.
or should i not have left cbzpne. the doctor had advised me to slowly withdraw and thats what i did, but the last time i had withdrawn i had a seizure after many months.

the reason behind siezures on the basis of the mri report and blood tests was a positive and clear identification of a cyst in the brain which was allegedly caused by some parasites egg travelling in the blood stream.neurocysticercosis.

i would be thankful if i get this matter cleared once and for all because sometimes i am anxious about it and feel the need to end the matter soon.

Hi,

Neurocysticercosis is the most common parasitic infection of the brain and most common cause of recurrent seizures in the developing world. The parasite is taenia solium or pork tapeworm. It is right that the eggs of taenia solium travel via the blood stream and lodge themselves in the brain.
The treatment is worm therapy with vermicidal agents and rarely surgical treatment when the condition does not resolve by medical treatment alone.
