olgioclonal bands

I have been ill for awhile. all the symptoms of anxiety and a few other things.I have had alot of tests done.blood work for autoimmune diseases etc... recently I had a lumbar puncture it showed two o bands in the spinal fluid. I have on increased singnal in the right frontal lobe also on mri. This signal has stayed stable for a year. It looks alot like ms except theres a few things that don't fit like I am sick on a daily basis I thought ms wasn't a constant illness meaning you had attacks then you get a little better. I was just wondering if people with chronic fatigue/myalgia encephelitis can have o bands in their spinal fluid? my symptoms are increased anxiety...hypoglcemia feeling but I'm not hypoglycemic....taste alterations....pharangitis on and off...numbness in foot and muscle tightness and soreness made worse with standing or sitting too long...I get a swelling feeling in my head and a vibrating feeling next to my ear like twitching. I now have double carpals syndrome in my wrists. I have tingling in various spots. I also have been diagnnosed with schambergs disease. I get boughts of nausea and tingling in my face too. Years ago I had bellspalsy and I have had multiple cold sores on my lips(bad ones) since a child. I have allergic asthmatic bronchitis that put me in status asthmaticus and respiratory failure in 2010. I also am anemic from having too many fibroids(thats what they say the cause is anyways). I am tired of not knowing what is wrong with me and not knowing the exact tests I do need because the ones they are taking show very little. d defiency, increaded ch150 and 2 o bands and anemic thats it.

thats what I don't understand the report said 2 gamma bands in oglioclonal but it was normal levels in igg synthesis and spinal albumin was normal along with normal serum albumin, normal serum igg and normal protein levels.the report stated that this is unsupportive of ms but everything I reads says differently so if not ms what is it and do I have all the test?Is there anything else in serum to look for besides albumin, igg synthesis and protein?

Thanks for using the forum. I am happy to address your questions, and my answer will be based on the information you provided here. Please make sure you recognize that this forum is for educational purposes only, and it does not substitute for a formal office visit with a doctor.

Without the ability to examine and obtain a history, I can not tell you what the exact cause of the symptoms is. However I will try to provide you with some useful information.

When evaluating oligoclonal bands in the CSF, you must also look at the oligoclonal bands (OCBs) in the serum (i.e,. part of the blood) to ensure that the OCBs in the CSF were not passively transferred from the serum. OCBs are markers of immunological processes such as multiple sclerosis. In your history, it would be important to compare the serum to the CSF given the encephalitis/infections.

If you have not done so, you should follow up with a neurologist to further evaluate.

Thank you for this opportunity to answer your questions, I hope you find the information I have provided useful, good luck.
