I have shakey muscles.possibly tremors,i get them in my forearms my quads and hamstrings and in my torso-,stomach,chest like after doing benchpress ,ab workout or leg workout etc. but i havent been to the gym working out for a few months .the feeling is as if i were shivering but it is not visible or felt to the observer. I only feel it. currently my low back is quite sore and has been for a few weeks. however these shakes became noticeable  more than a year ago started by a visable rolling/shaking of my wrist while it was relaxed hanging to my side or elbow down hand up . but of course i would be able to stop when i realized it was happening . i can make myself perfectly still at will.I saw a neurologist at this point a year ago and he mentioned a hereditary tremor as does my GP.but its still bugging me today. Right now i feel an uncontrolable spasm like sensation in my upper abs .TOO MUCH COFFEE perhaps is it possible ? i generally only drink espresso at a mug (americano style)  in the morning .I have been drinking coffee almost every morning since i was a kid. I dont think my body wants it any more. I have been told  that coffee (not  caffeine)does attack to the muscles or bones in some bad way, but dont understand .I am trying to stop but i like it too much like an adiction is hard to let go.I did for the record feel more normal when i kicked the habit for a total of around 2  months  i started back on  coffee.and my shakyness is back also..   ??    I have another  possible suspect that i feel may be the cause to my shaky feelings .at some point in my life i broke or fractured my neck. oddly it was discovered in 1993 after a second car accident sent me to the hospital for xrays . old damage was the verdict .and as I live my head is  still on but  my neck hurts like a *******.what im leading to is ; is it nurological dammage , or triggered by the trauma of something  traumatic? or possibly my sore very low back, possibly a vertibrea out ,or a pinched nerve? I read these blogs from other concerned folks and i've not heared any possile causes to "THE SHAKES" ,soreness ,stiffness, etc. can these concerns be added confusion to us?thank you. I need to rid of this pest .Are there vitamins that help ?substances ?thiamine perhaps ,Meditation?thankyou  I realy am anxious to recieve a reply to this for I am worried and sick of hearing GP say its just a hereditary tremor which I do want to be the reason.  Thank you to my repliers.

I am 26 years old.  I have seen my family doctor and a neurologist.  Neurologist says essential tremor and family doctor says ongoing stress/anxiety.  He does not believe it is essential tremor because it happened so suddenly at the same time as some very serious anxiety in my life.  My symptoms have gotten better over time, but are definitely not gone.  I have had no imaging done.  Would BFS show up on them?  Can anything be done for it? Does it ever go away? The tremors that I had in my legs and shoulders have since left; but I still get them in my hands when I am using them a lot.  I am also now getting pain in my hands; it's no horrible but just annoying.

Hi Jittery,
What is your name? How old are you?
Have you seen any doctor for these symptoms?
Have you consulted any neurologist? Any imaging study has been done?
I think it can be benign Fasciculation syndrome.
You need to consult a neurologist at earliest and get an imaging done and discuss regarding further management.
Keep me informed.
Bye.

You sound so much like me! I to have the tremors in my arms and legs.  Mine started suddenly at a very stressful time in my life but as my stress and anxiety have gotten better, my symptoms have still persisited.  When I'm at rest , I do not notice them, but when using my arms/legs I notice a slight tremor/perceived weakness.  It is not keeping me from doing anything that I need to do, it is just so annoying and I feel is causing most of my anxiety. I too have 3 small children (all under 18 months) and I'm sure this adds to my stress.  I have been taking Vitamin B12 and have noticed some improvement, but it is definitley still there.  At times it is barely noticeable but on a day where I am lifting the kids a lot or my anxiety is up, it is very noticeable (to me, not others).

thank you for your response.Im hoping there may be a supplement ,some vitamin something that may help rest my shivery body. is it possible my body is lacking something? if anything I feel as though i've been lacking exercise and stretching.I am the father of 3 small children  36 years old and lead a busy family life of all the goodies life brings to a full family. sure they all stress me out as normal as driving nuts is.Im always concerned because i want to  always be here for/with them.I have had one close freind/work mate die from ALS at age 38 ,5 years ago. Another friend 32 just diagnosed with MS and another friend who.s mother has MS for the past 15 years. so worry is so close.  My ocupation is a pattern maker patterns that go to and come from foundry's. I work with wood and machinery that causes dust .  some aluminun plastics /resins   alot of bondo, paints ,aluminum based paint. 17 years now and try to use my respirator as much as i comfortaly can .considering the stap and weight of it tend to irritate whats left of my T1. I read the safety data sheets of the materials I use and know the bondo and release agent are cancerous and bondo can cause neurological problems. How bad &what type I dont know. any way thanks . some  answer to my question for supplements to strengthen / relax my neck . something to calm my nerves or (shivery body).thanks again.

Hi,
How are you feeling now? I think you are all right and all ready.
Well, your description of the term shaky feels to me as twitching, which is called as fasciculation’s.
Muscles twitching are also called as fasciculation’s. Muscle twitching is the result of minor local muscle contractions or the uncontrollable twitching of a single muscle group served by a single motor nerve fiber or filament. Some minor muscle twitching is common and goes unnoticed, but some may be sign of underlying neurological disorder.
Benign twitches are normal and quite common, often triggered by stress or anxiety. Any irregularity in your daily diet can also cause similar symptoms. Any drug overdose especially caffeine can also cause similar symptoms. Exercise can also induce twitching.
Symptoms suggestive of a neurological cause of fasciculation’s include:
Wasting of muscle, weakness, other findings of nerve dysfunction like pain, tingling and numbness. Neurological illnesses where fasciculation’s are seen include:
Chronic denervation of muscle due to disk compression of nerve exiting the spinal cord, ALS, spinal muscular atrophy, Muscular dystrophy among others.
Since these symptoms are prolonged and annoying, you can reconsider the help of neurologist at earliest.
Meditation, Yoga and relaxation exercise will definitely help.
Hope this helps.
Bye.
