Any blood pressure issues?
i never knew of any and usually when i go to the doctors they say its good. I think i have anxiety and panic attacks and im waiting to be seen by a psychologist/psychiatrist whatever you call it..ive been reading it has to do with that too. im not sure though..
Hi....I think Londres may be on the right track with this,,...it could be POTS, this affects ur BP when u change positions, so sitting at the Dr ur BP can be normal, so to test for this they do a tilt table test....
Something to look into further.
Where in the heck are they coming up with this anxiety/panic attack diagnosis?
What other symptoms are you having?
Will agree with Selma.....further medical testing should be done, i.e. Tilt Table test.
Im thinking sinus infection...
This is in no correlation with a sinus infection.
Hey I don't really have anything else going on, It is getting to be where it happens almost everytime I stand unless I get up slow...even then I know its coming but maybe not as bad. The WORST part is how bad my head is throbbing afterward its like i want to squeeze it to hold the pressure..it feels like it is in my brain...top of the head sorta...
Well....this could be related to anxiety, but ALL physical possibilities should be ruled out as well.
Have you ever had a CT scan or a MRI in regards to this?
I found this info in wikipedia-
Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS, also postural tachycardia syndrome) is a condition of dysautonomia, to be more specific orthostatic intolerance, in which a change from the supine position to an upright position causes an abnormally large increase in heart rate, called tachycardia. Several studies show a decrease in cerebral blood flow with systolic and diastolic cerebral blood flow (CBF) velocity decreased 44% and 60%, respectively. Patients with POTS have problems maintaining homeostasis when changing position, i.e. moving from one chair to another or reaching above their heads. Many patients also experience symptoms when stationary or even while lying down.
Inappropriate levels of epinephrine and norepinephrine lead to anxiety-like symptoms:
chills
feelings of fear
flushing
overheating
nervousness
over-stimulation
Symptoms of POTS overlap considerably with those of generalized anxiety disorder, and a misdiagnosis of an anxiety disorder is not uncommon.
[edit]Associated conditions
POTS is often accompanied by vasovagal syncope, also called "neurally mediated hypotension" (NMH) or "neurocardiogenic syncope" (NCS). Vasovagal syncope is a fainting reflex due to a profound drop in blood pressure. Autonomic dysfunction that occurs with these disorders causes blood to inappropriately pool in the limbs away from the heart, lungs, and brain. The combination of misdirected bloodflow and hypotension will invoke syncope. Tachycardia associated with POTS may be a cardiac response to restore cerebral perfusion.
POTS may be coexist with chronic fatigue syndrome as one of the CFS symptoms as part of the orthostatic intolerance of this condition. Treating POTS may improve some of the patients CFS symptoms.
The thing is to get a thorough in-person work-up, my preference being at a teaching hospital. There are many etiologies, including Parkinson's disease, that must be ruled out. The problem is vascular, an issue of so-called body capacitance, essentially because the peripheral vasculature is not reducing in diameter as you stand up. There may be co-factors such as anemia or dehydration. It ain't a sinus infection and an MRI and CT scan probably won't show much. Calcium is utilized in contraction of the muscles surrounding the blood vessels, and this might be a factor. The heart rate increase is compensatory. Not too hard to explain. It certainly is not a psychiatric issue. But this isn't a problem to be fooled with on an internet board.
Private message me anytime dear if you want to further discuss this.
well im going to go get all kinds of tests done...i also feel very nauseous lately and my face gets hot. I feel nauseous more and more everyday. and it comes randomly.
I am going through the same exact thing! I can't figure out what it is.. And the doctor doesn't seem to know either, at least not yet. He ordered a tilt table test and I'm waiting for the results. It's good to know that I'm not crazy and other people experience these same symptoms. Although, I'm sorry it's happening to you. I know how it is and it completely *****.
