Hello Dear,
Soreness of muscles could be due to over exertion or overuse of muscles. Are you on any medication?Swelling as you describe could be due to muscular cramps and tightness muscles. There could be hypertrophy of muscles which you must be relating to the fatty tissue. You can apply some non steroidal anti inflammatory ointment to relieve the pain.

Hi,
Episodic muscle swelling is usually due to musle spasm. This is because of sudden increase in muslcle's electrical activity for its contraction. It may be due to low body calcium or a part of involuntary movements of muscles.Secondly if the swellings are at multiple parts and persistant then it could be a lipoma which is a benign condition. It results from localised deposition of fat cells. For proper diagnosis consult doctor for examination of the swelling.
Please keep updating,
All the best,
Regards,
