topamax

My 2 yr. old grandson has been on topamax for his epilepsy for 4 months.  Before that he was on another med that caused him to be very aggressive  So we asked that his med be changed.  He now barely eats anything solid everyday.  He does drink pediasure 16 oz. a day.  His weight has remained at 25 lbs. since starting the med.  Should we try to have his med changed due to his loss of appetite since starting topamax /? Or is there another med that would help increase his appetite

I did order Topomax over the internet, (no 'script) because I try EVERYTHING to treat my Cervical Dystonia/ST.  I really thought it was some zero (or close) harm trial and a homeopathic treatment.  I had no idea it was a prescription a powerfull drug.
It took me about 4 months to get the medication as it was shipped from Pakistan to the USA.  The company posted 2 "home" addresses....one in Minnesota the other in Rome.  It is advertised by Google on many interney sites as a cure for spasmodic torticollis and/or spasmodic dysphonia.  It had no effect on me......I suspect that what I was taking was some placebo.

Hi,
Loss of appetite is one of the many side effects of Topamax. So is weight loss. You may try giving the child some digestive enzymes and multivitamin preparations that help in improving the appetite. Please consult the doctor regarding drug change or other management plan if the symptom doesn’t improve. Hope this helps you. Take care and regards!
