For the past two years I have had twitching around my cheeks and nose. It is equal on both sides. It almost looks like an exaggerated smile. It is most embarrassing. There is no pain and I do sleep well at night. Sometimes it helps to chew gum or just eat. Some days are ok and other days are terrible. I have gone through many doctors and done the obvious checks and testing. Please offer suggestions.
My 3 1/2 old girl has night twitching. It occurs while sleeping, usually occuring, not always, around the period of sickness or temperature. It is hard to tell if she has always twitched as I only sleep with her for a short time while she awakes at night. She never experiences twitching while awake.
When I hold her at night, while she feels asleep, it feels like her nerves are moving; sometimes in her arm, leg, shoulder, toe, feet, all over, and sometimes simultaneously. Her extremities usually do not move, it's her nerves that are. Please help me.
Your symptoms of twitching may be representative of a number of things. From your newly diagnosed asthma, I assume you must be on inhalers. Some of them like albuterol can cause fine muscle tremors as well as steroid inhalers and pills. If they are not medicine related, they could be part of a syndrome called benign fasciculation syndrome which is a condition in which you get little twitches or jerks throughout your body that do not lead to anything serious but can be annoying. They are increased wit stress and fatigue. I can't tell you 100% that you do or don't have ALS or MS from a snapshot description of your symptoms over the internet. But it doesn't sound like it. Go over your meds with your doc, and if the symptoms progressively worsen or significantly affect your lifestyle then ask for a neuro consult. Otherwise it should be ok to just observe them for now.
Good luck.
