vp shunt symptoms

my son has a vp shunt, my question is why does his shunt get swollen for a couple of hours and then it goes away?  my son got his shunt placed about 2 months ago, after i saw these symptoms i took him to the doctor and the doctor said that all the test came out good but still his shunt keeps on getting swollen, i am afraid he might get an infection or maybe there is something wrong with it and the doctors did not noticed when he was in the hospital.  what can i do for my son?  also my son was diagnosed with tb menengitis and hydrosephilis.

Hello Dear,

Lethargy and shunt site swelling are predictive of shunt malfunction. The physician must maintain a high index of suspicion when evaluating children with an intracranial shunt because the presentation of malfunction is widely varied. A missed diagnosis can result in permanent neurological sequelae .You should seek a neurophysician and seek his advice.
