TAS, if your hands are bothering you in in this way, bring this to the attention of your regular doctor, and if he's not sure, he can refer you to a specialist. But the main reason I am replying is just in case you are like me, in that I take Zoloft, an SSRI antidepressant, and ever since I've been taking it I drop things all the time. Something about that type drug (and other drugs) messes up my ability to grip. Also, sometimes a person can be low on, for example, B vitamins and have little nerve changes, so your regular doc can also do a blood draw and see what levels your vitamins and minerals are at, making for an easy solution to the situation if something turns up deficient.
If it turns out you do have peripheral neuropathy, the article Carol gave you explains how come folks get this, which one reason for one hand to be like that could be a little spinal disc bulge is pushing on some hand nerves and indeed making it numb. If you notice at anytime that your neck is bothering you or has a kink in it, that's where the irregularity might be, and physical therapy and some temporary meds will usually make it much better, altho there are other causes for numbness. If you do not have a doc you usually go to, most counties have a health department clinic, you can go as a walk-in and usually be seen the same day for very little cost. It would be in the phone book under the name of your county in the white pages, like, "Smith County Government," and you'll find the health department under there. Let us know what happens, and I'm sure Carol and of course I would like to know what you thought of the article on peripheral neuropathy as relates to you and also want to know what your plans might be to resolve this.
