Would the cause of congenital bilateral ptosis show in a muscle biopsy sample taken from the thigh muscle?

Thank you for your reply. I've had the bilateral ptosis since I was a baby and is due to a myopathy not a neuropathic or neuromuscular junction abnormality.

I wanted to know if the muscle cause of the bilateral ptosis would show in a muscle biopsy from other muscles like the thigh?

Without the ability to examine and obtain a history, I can not tell you what the exact cause of the symptoms is. However I will try to provide you with some useful information.

It would depend on what the source of your bilateral ptosis is. If it is a neuromuscular junction abnormality, for example, then the biopsy would not be helpful. However, if it is a myopathic process, the muscle biopsy may be helpful. Are you scheduled for the biopsy?
