How soon after surgery should I see results

I finally had surgery (after doing all the conservative things) and listening to good advice fom many people I had posterior laminectomy discectomy C5-6, C6-7 and some work on C4, was wondering how soon I should see results from the sugery afterr healing time? the sugeon already said if this did not correct the problem then he would do an anterior apprroach with fusion and include multiple discs from C3 though C7. any advice would be geatly appeciated.

ps sugey was done on the 17th at 8AM so I haven't even stated healing yet, still really sore and stiff.

thanks in advance.
oh, and what should I look out for?

Mike

Dr. Chahine,

That makes sense, I am sure that the discs, or very little of the discs are accessible from a posterior approach, that is what was listed on the surgery orders that I read (laminectomy discectomy) infact, the disc at C5-6 is gone, it had disolved before I started having sever pain that occurred after the car wreck that led to this surgery. and C6-7 is almost gone, C4 is in very bad shape as well all due to severe DDD. The car wreck just escalated everything. I will get the MRI reoprt and post it for you

Thanks for your reply, it is very helpful and informative.

Dear Mike, I can tell you that you did not get the right information about your surgery... I am sure you only had a laminectomy, but never a discectomy. Simply the surgeon who did the surgery should explain more to you what he did.. he only removed the lamina [la mi nectomy], disc were untouched, so I cannot know what you can get from this surgery, I want to see your previous MRI to decide wether you can improve or ...
