Shingles and Vertigo Since Teenage Years

I am a 47 yr. old woman who has experienced at least 10 outbreaks of Shingles on my neck. It is always the same--5 or so blisters that occur after sensitivity and itching in that area. I sometimes run a slight fever and feel tired a few days before and outbreak as well. The outbreak occurs about 3 inches below my left ear.

I also suffer from bouts of vertigo (probably 10 times as well) which used to last 3 weeks, but have gradually decreased in length. Meclazine taken at the first hint of spinning helps. I also have ear pain off and on. I tried the Epley manuveur with a doctor which did not help at all. Sometimes my sense of balance stays affected for months.

I have just recovered from a bout of Shingles (which came on a week or two after a vertigo spell). After 3 weeks, I now have a slight painful tenderness when touching my neck up to my hairline behind the left ear. I have also had a weird pain on the left side of my head a few inches above the ear that comes and goes. Not a headache, but a sudden pain when moving my head in a certain direction or tilting of the neck...haven't quite figured it out.

Is there something medically I should be doing such as any tests, or do I just live with these bouts and try to keep my immune system in good standing?

Thanks for any help you can offer, Cricket

about repetetive shingles please contact an infectious disease specialist, he/she explain the best way to prevent it. First of all shingles should be confirmed, otherwise many other possibilities could be raised.
About the vertigo you described؛‎ it may be the image of the viral labirintitis where Epley's is less effective in shortening the lengh of symptoms.
We do not expose a known protocol to minimise the number of bouts, but my personal advice to is:
1- cover your ears with a warming band during the day.
2- try to sleep in warm environment or try also to cover your had a night.
