I don't think it is anything to worry about.
I dont think it takes up the majority of my day. I don't play with things cause I need to I just do it when I'm bored or not doing anything usually. No I don't have any anxiety and no one has mentioned it to me but when I told them about it they say that when they think about it they remember me always doing something with my hands. Does it matter if I stop it? Or can I just brush it off an not worry about it? Thanks!!
Hi there. Well you are writing on this forum so obviously you are bothered by it but let me ask you this, is this something you feel is taking up the majority of your day? Are you sitting there playing with things because you "need" to? Is this something other people notice you doing? Usually people do this because it helps relieve anxiety and anxiety doesn't have to always be something conscious. It looks like you are not picking at anything on your body right?
There are a lot of coping strategies and one of them is sitting on your hands. Another is trying to be aware of what you are doing and when. When you notice yourself playing with something, stop right away and busy your mind with something like reading or exercise.
Let me know how you are doing.
