OCD or not?

I have noticed that whenever I come down or go up my flight of stairs that I start counting.  I can't remember if I start counting whenever I have to go up or down stairs at other places.  (Normally, I opt for elavator).  I also want to know if spelling is OCD.  I am really bothered by the fact that everytime i have to write my name that I have to spell it.  I'm not spelling it out load but silently (most of the time I still move my tongue).

I agree with toejam (lol, nice name)
OCD isn 't what you think it is, it's a million times worse.
And no, you don't have OCD.
Obsessive-Compulsive tendencies are very common, and OCD isn't diagnosed until those tendencies grow out of control and become life-crippling. Does this stair counting interfere with your life so bad that you think of nothing else? Is your life a total hell because you have to spell your name? If not, then no, you don't have OCD.

why do you count the stairs? if you only have a compulsion without an obsession...i don't think it's really ocd...meaning if there isn't a reason for you to count the stairs, then i doubt you have ocd, or otherwise, a very mild case.

the hell of ocd is what they don't show you on 'monk' or other tv shows...it's in the obsessions. what do you obsess about?

Hard to diagnose over the web but sounds like a minor ocd. Just try to avoid these habits as much as possible. For example think of something else when climbing the stairs. If the problem persists see a professional. Good luck
