CBT is invaluable in my book. It helps you change the way you think and it also gives you techniques to help with any anxiety you are feeling. If I were you, I would find a psychologist that teaches it and learn it. Medications work well but they are not the entire solution. Sometimes I do have to fall back on my CBT a bit. So give that some thought.
Thanks for the words of encouragement. The doctor I saw today doesn't do any therapy, just prescribes medication. I have seen therapists in the past, but it never helps me. None of them have tried cbt though.
Well...try not to concentrate on the "if that doesn't work" and more on the "when this works I'll feel better." It is a double dosage so you will hopefully see some benefits. Just remember that it does take a good 4 to 6 weeks before you have that steady state of medication in your system so if you don't get results for a while, don't give in. I doubled my dose of Wellbutrin and had to wait for the steady state as well.
Does the therapist teach you cognitive behavioral therapy?
The appointment went okay. The doctor upped my dose from 50mg to 100mg. She said if that doesn't work then she may want to try Geodon, which is an anti-psyhotic drug. I hope that I don't need that!
You have more than likely already had your appointment. How did it go for you?
