obsessive thinking

I have been under stress lately.  I have been mixing up my words occassionally and when reading jump ahead with words and sometimes mistake words like  mustard for mustache.  My therapist says it is obsessive compulsive disorder.  Does that sound right to you?

Hi
Thanks for your response.  I am seeing a behavioral therapist.  Mr dr. has prescribed paxil for generalized anxiety and panic disorder.  This newest problem started after I had a huge work project going on.  Now it seems I am obsessing about words etc.  (written, spoken, etc.)  I have been on the paxil for almost 2 weeks and have seen a slight improvement.  Lots going on in my life.  A sick father in law, work stress, and son getting married in the summer.  I don't have time to be stressing!  Too much to do!

Well this can happen with ocd, but I think it happens with a few other disorders like anxiety too. It usually takes more than one symptom to diagnose ocd, so I'd get a second opinion. Also when you say "therapist" do you mean a psychologist, a behavioral therapist, or a psychiatrist. Only dr like a psychiatrist or pcp can make a diagnosis, so if it's someone who can't prescribe medication, I'd find a new therapist.
