ocd

i have had ocd now for 5 years i been on sertraline for about that time but last year all my unwanted throughts went away it was great for a year i stop taking my sertraline and then it came back i been back on the sertraline now for over 6months and i think it makes me worst i feels tension. jumpy.down and my unwanted throughts are as bad as ever. why is my meds notworking

My Dr warned me that going off of meds could mean that when you go back on them (because we all ineviatably end up back on them) that they may no longer work or the dosage may need to be higher.
I agree that you need to speak to your Dr and try something different. The good news is that you fond relief from your OCD before and you know that you can do it again.

I personally think our brain chemistry changes and that sometimes what used to work no longer works anymore.  There are many medications out there to choose from so I would talk to your doctor about switching meds.  If you don't see any benefit by weeks 4 to 6, then the medication isn't working.  No need to give it 6 months to find this out.  In the mean time, why don't you ask about a short-acting benzo to get you through this tough time while you figure out your medication.
