You can begin by searching pub med for the association of silica exposure and lung cancer. There are numerous components to "coal dust."

Many of the scientific/medical journals will not have "free" access to the full text of the articles.

I hope this is a start for you.

Hi,

There is an extensive amount of data regarding links of dust exposure (for example, silica) and lung cancer.

That being said, what type and how much exposure did this patient have?
Occupation(s)?
Years of exposure?
Type of dust (coal, asbestos, mixed dust, etc)?
Is the person a smoker? (past or current) How many years?
Has the patient had a biopsy? What type of lung cancer?
