Sterno-clavicular dislocation

Hi,

I have an anterior sterno-clavicular dislocation.  I dislocated it after I have a mountain biking accident.  The specialist I've seen says it's best to let it heal where it is without any treatment.  He says closed reduction is difficult as the joint will not remain in place.

Are these my best options?

I have a similar situation with my sternoclavicular joint ...I tore the ligaments during after I was hit by a drunk driver during a motor vehicle accident. Now when I extend my arm I hearing the tearing sound and it pop really bad sometimes. I went to an ortho he wouldnt even touch it said he had never seen it so I just let it go I can still move my arm. Years later I went to my uncle, who is a chiropractor. He took an xray and said the gap between my sterum to my clavilce (the joint) was huge and showed me the difference between both sides is extremely clear. Anyway I moved to Florida saw an orhto here and he said the other doctor was a moron and this injury is very common in sports sometimes and they wire the joint together. Obviously this would restrict my movement a lot for the rest of my life. But what are the advatages of doing this operation? Its been years now would it even work now or would I benifit from it? Its starting to finally become painful

Anterior dislocations are best traeted with "benign neglect".  Usually, one attempt at closed reduction is attempted, but if the joint does not remain in place, surgical intervention is not peformed unless there is a compelling reason
