shoulder pain

I am a 53 year old male healthy male who has enjoyed lifting weights for almost 40 years. My problem is (right) shoulder pain. On 10/27/10 I had right shouldersubacromial decompression and a distal clavicle resection both done arthoscopically. No tendon tears were indicated at this time.
On 9/30/11 The MRI impression noted a 1.9 cm os acromiale. Mild subdeltoid bursitis. Post operative changes noted. Minimal nonspecific heterogeneous signal in the superior labrum suggests degenerative change or minimal nondisplaced degenerative type tear. Low to moderate grade chondromalacia.      Last week I visited a different orthopedic surgeon and he said after reviewing the 9/30/11 MRI film, report and the old surgery report (10/27/10); that it was probably the bursitis creating the pain and administered a cortisone injection. A week later the pain is not as bad but is troubling when attempting to workout. What do you think could be the source of the pain and any treatment recommendations? Thank you for your response

Although the bursitis was the likely cause of your pain, and the cortisone shot will give you some relief, the real question must be: what is the cause of the bursitis?
The two most likely causes are incomplete rehab following your surgery, or poor weight lifting technique or even a combination of both.
I recommend a thorough PT program, focussing on corrective exercises for the rotator cuff and shoulder stabilizers. As that is completed, I recommend working with a  knowledgable trainer to work on safe, appropriate training techniques.
