Hi,
Although you are young, with age condition may become worse. Bow legs tend to influence knees, so with age it can lead to arthritis.
The only way to correct bowing in adult - orthopedic surgery.
It depends, you'd have to see a dr. Best wishes.
thanks the help... do you know if bowleg can become worse as a person age?
I am not a dr, but I would think that at your age they would have to do surgery to correct it. You should make an appt with an orthopedic dr to find out what they think will work best for you. Sometimes, and I hope I am explaining this correctly, they have to take out little triangle shaped pieces of the bone to make it appear more straight. Again, it will depend on the severity that the dr evaluates. I wish you the best of luck. Let us know how things work out.
I am 19 years old. Can brace correct the problem? Are you sure that bow leg will not hinder the growth of the affect leg bone?
It depends on the age of the patient. Also, an orthopedic surgeon would have to evaluate them and give you the best treatment option. Is this for a young child?
Thanks for the reply, i was afraid that bowleggednedd would slow or stop the growth of leg bones. Anyone else have any comments?
also, the condition is not causing me pain, but should i get my legs corrected anyway? what are some options that treats bowleg? is surgery required?
Also, the disorder of the knees called osgood-schlatter's disease can affect the shape of the lower leg, bowing it.
Hi, sorry that I can't help that much. I believe, however, that the leg bones still continue to grow. But, because of the bowing they don't appear as lengthy. I hope this helps some.
