How long b4 looking for a new doctor

I had been having pain in my upper arm when lifting it straight out in front of me. After PT didn't help I went to an orthopedic surgeon who gave me a cortisone shot which helped for a few months until I overdid it with that arm cutting up a tree after a hurricane. Had an MRI and he told me I have an impingement. I had arthrosciopic surgery this past January and have had more pain in more places than b4 the surgery. Many positions I put my arm into would cause pain and then I had shoulder pain also. I went back to him and he said I had a frozen shoulder and started me on PT. after a few weeks of that with no relief I went back to him and he gave me a cortisone shot. This shot was in the shoulder joint. It probably got rid of 70% of the pain and now I'm supposed to star PT again. I really get the feeling this guy botched up mysurgery and I'm getting to the point to ask for my MRI and the surgery photos and find another surgeon. He keeps telling me he's going to get me back 100% but right now I'm in worse shape than b4 the surgery and it's been nine weeks. He sold this surgery to me like I'd be 100% a week after the procedure. I've really lost faith in doctors.  So my question would be if anyone else has gone through something like this?

Thank you for your response. After five weeks of PT the pain is subsiding and range of motion has increased. I went back to the doctor yesterday and he told me things look good and that it could take many months for all the pain to go away. I think my big problem is that the doctor did not give me all the facts about this surgery and even during post surgical visits I never got the feeling that he could explain what was going on with my pain or condition. He may or may not be a good doctor but his communication skills are terrible. I even told him early on that what he told be about recovery and complications after surgery were different than what he told before I decided to have the surgery.

Hi there!

Well, your symptoms might or might not have been related to the surgery or could have been caused by increased inflammation following a surgical procedure. It would be difficult to comment on if your doctor was responsible for the later issues. I would suggest continuing with the management suggested for a few more weeks before considering a second opinion with another orthopedician.
Hope this is helpful.

Take care!
