If thumb bent more than 35 degrees bone seems to pop & rub at base by trapezium

When bending thumb more than (approx) 35 degrees the bone seems to pop / rub out of place at the base by the trapezium

this might have come about because I started to snap my fingers (thumb and forefinger) constantly during the day to alert my dog that I was approaching (he became extremely hard of hearing).

Thoughts?
