Is this device appropriate to use years after knee replacement

My Mom is 87 and in a lot of pain at night.  Her knee hurts and cramps up and it seems like this device would help her.  Mom's concerned about using it because she doesn't know if it is appropriate after the knee surgery she had at least a decde or more ago.  I cannot see the harm in trying.  Does anyone know?
