May I ask for you Orthopedic Surgeons name. I too will be looking for someone to repair my gluteus minimus tear and I am having terrible luck finding a physician that has experience in this procedure. Hope your surgery went well and you are fully recovered.
Hello,
I had a gluteus minimus repair with sling, bursectomey, and IT band opened up 5 weeks ago. I am still experiencing pain, how did your recovery go and what was the time frame until you were back to normal activities (carrying things, relations, etc.)?
Thank you!
hello I live in Ohio and getting the surgery May 28th. I have dealt with Doctors telling me it was bursitis for 6 yrs. Been to pain management had injections been to therapy with no luck. I finally was referred to a ortho/hip specialist that is going to do the surgery. Im having a bursectomy an repair on my gluteus minimus and medius with release if the IT band. No weight bearing for 6 weeks, for 2 weeks I will be in a passive motion machine 6 to 8 hrs a day. I am confident this is going to be the solution to the problem.
Hi - did you ever have the surgery and was it successful. I too have gluteus medius tears of the hip in fact both hips. Who did your surgery and were you happy with them and it?
Lynn
Gluteus minimus tear and severe bursitis in the area of the tear were identified in May of 2010 via an MRI after a Physical therapist and a physiatrist recognized my pain and limping as muscle tear and Bursistis of the hip symptons. Conversative measures for 6 months have not helped. Saw an orthopedic surgeon at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond last week.
Hope others can talk about repairs of the gluteus minmus tear as it seems to be an unusual surgery. With few surgeons doing very many.
Again any one with experience with an orthopedic surgeon on the East Coast of the USA doing a gluteus minimus tear repair comments appreciated.
You have to go for MRI scans and discuss with an orthopaedic surgeon experienced in surgery.
Opt for surgery if conservative management fails.
You can go for any good facility in your area or alternatively ask your family physician to refer you.
Take care!
