Knee Pain (PLEASE HELP!)

I am sophomore in high school and I am currently running track. I was recently been diagnosed with "runners knee" and was given a few strecthes and leg strengthening exercises to help with my knee problems. Well, after a solid two weeks of performing these exercises, my knee feels strong and well. But whenever i have to stretch and put my left knee into my buttox the entire knee feels an incredible amount of pain. Also, whenever I try and sit on my ankles, I am in HUGE amounts of pain just in the left knee. Please inform me on whether I should see a doctor again for my knee problems, or just what you think about this injury I have. Thanks a lot. :)

Hello!

You should go for present day scans to make sure you do not have any ligament or soft tissue issues in your knee. There can also be a ligament tear in your knee joint which you have to rule out.

Rest, apply ice packs and take ibuprofen and take an appointment near an orthopedician.

Take care!

Yes you should probably have an MRI done on your knee to see if you have torn your meniscus or anything else. I tore my meniscus in highschool from play tennis and had surgery and it helped it so much. And its not a rough surgery either. You may consider wearing a hinged knee brace, that may help you. Hope everything works out!!!

Thanks for the helpful advice. I just have one question...how long was the surgery? and how long were you out of playing tennis after the surgery?

The surgery was only about an hour long and I was back to playing tennis about a month or two afterwards. You should really look into it! The procedure I had is called a knee arthroscopy. The doctor made three incisions and used scopes to repair the tear. So the scarring isn't too bad along with the recovery. Many people are able to walk normally a couple days after the surgery. I used crutches for a few days until my arms felt like they were going to fall off so I would recommend not using crutches and just hop on that leg asap to get the muscles working out again!
