Online resources for increasing Athletic Performance?

Greetings,
I'm curious if any of the physicians or community members could direct me to a comprehensive list(s) resources aimed at easing back into high levels of Athletic Performance following Achilles Tendon repair + 3+ months of physical therapy.

I ruptured my left Achilles Tendon on May 2nd, 2009, had surgery and successfully completed PT, but I'm looking to GRADUALLY increase my athletic performance levels and like to remain current with the latest studies in Orthopedics to ensure my own safety and try new methods.

Thank you,
Josue'

Thank you for the quick reply. I'm sorry for not getting back to you earlier. I thought I would receive an email when there was reply to my question.

I agree that NOT trying too many things with this rehabilitation is extremely important.

Are you aware of any reputable sources for entire workouts that could be incorporated after the 6mo, 8mo and 12mo timeframe?

Thank you,
Josue'

Hello!

When you are comfortable with all exercises including dorsiflexion and plantar flexion progressive resistance exercises should be tried. I am sure you might have tried these in your 3 months of physiotherapy.

This is followed by aggressive gait training exercises at about 10 weeks following the injury repair leading toward activity specific maneuvers and a return to activities at 4-6 months.

Your recovery is largely dependent on the quality of the rehabilitation program, your motivation and focus, and your post injury activity level.

This is sufficient and with time you will gain enough strength. Do not try too many things during the initial 6 months.

Take care!
