I am also 'attempting' to get my pm doctor to talk to my orthopedic surgeon who knows my medical history. I don't know how successful I will be, but a good try is all I can do at the moment and hope they actually pay attention.
Once I get the pain under reasonable control I would like to return to the Pilates exercises I used to do which were helpful. It is just getting this pain under manageable control for me to move forward with. I am doing walking exercises but that is still rough on me but I am doing what I can at the moment. Thanks for the advise and will keep you posted.
Hi there!
While milder forms of pyriformis syndrome can be managed by conservative measures such as stretching exercises, muscle strengthening, anti-inflammatory/ pain medications; severer forms may require steroid/ anesthetic shots. Prognosis is generally good and nerve destruction procedures are seldom used. I would suggest consulting an orthopedician for a detailed evaluation and suggestion of an appropriate management plan.
Hope this is helpful.
Take care!
