Possible Sprained Wrist

I got ankle surgery done and it has been a month now, so I went to take a shower and tried to keep my weight off of my ankle and slipped and hurt my wrist.  I have pain from the bone that connects to my thumb and it goes to my wrist.  Do you think I may have sprained it?  It does hurt when I move it in different ways.

When I fell in the shower, I also hurt my thumb.  It has been sore for a week now.The base of my thumb developed a bruise and a bump is felt at the thumb’s base on the palm side of my hand.  I have iced it and took advil ut that is not working.  Do you yhink I might have sprained my thumb also?

Hello Dear,
Some common symptoms of sprained wrist are;Pain with movement of the wrist ,swelling around the wrist joint, bruising or discoloration of the skin, burning or tingling sensations around the wrist .The treatment include;Rest, stop activity and don't use the injured wrist for 48 hours or until the pain and swelling has subsided. . Ice the wrist by applying a cold pack (wrapped in a towel) or a bag of crushed ice to the wrist for 15 minutes, several a day for several days, until swelling subsides. Don't ice you injury for more than than 20 minutes at a time. . Use an elastic compression bandage to wrap the wrist and limit swelling.
Start the wrap at the base of the fingers and stop just below the elbow. The wrap should be snug, but be careful not to cut off circulation to the fingers.  Keep the injured wrist higher than your heart as often as possible during the day and at night for the first two days after the injury. This will help drain fluid and reduce swelling around the wrist. You  can take Ibuprofen ,Naproxen , Acetaminophen  or Aspirin after consulting your doctor to releive the pain.
