Hi! I've just had my tendon repaired after suffering a full rupture whilst playing rugby! How long is the recovery period will I be able to run again or will I ever be able to play contact sports again?

Hi there!

Initial recovery may take a few weeks following a complete rupture of the patella tendon, while complete recovery may take a few months. You should be able to run, though contact sports may need to be limited. It would be best to discuss the expected prognosis in detail with your treating orthopedician.
Hope this is helpful.

Take care!
