Hi, I'm 21 years of age and I had severe CTEV.  I had multiple operations as a child to correct the problem and I still have on-going issues now.  I'm planning to have children later on in life, so my question is, is there a chance that when I have kids that one could get CTEV? This is a serious issue for me and if this is the case, is there anything I can do to lower the chances of this happening?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello!

You can go for amniocentesis of your wife in early pregnancy and go for gene mapping and diagnosing any diseases. You are also suggested to go for regular ultrasounds if your wife gets pregnant and in this modern age you have 3D and 4D ultrasonographies available which you can adopt during early trimesters to diagnose any abnormalities. There is considerable evidence that the condition can be hereditary. Boys tend to be affected more than girls.

Take care!
