Hi,
I am 4 weeks post surgery for SLAP tear. I was in your exact position before my surgery. I had 4 months of physical therapy along with massage therapy and last resort, a cortisone shot. All to no avail. Here I am 4 weeks later and I will not lie to you, its a B*TCH to deal with this sort of surgery. I myself am a 41 yoa female. So, think twice and realize, surgery of such an active and widely used joint is not going to be any walk in the park by no means, especially if its your dominant shoulder, ie; hand.
I'm just realizing the date of this post, have you had the surgery yet??? If you need someone to talk to about this, im here. I'm going crazy myself and am looking for others to talk to on this subject.

Hello,
I would think that your orthopedic surgeon is going with conservative therapy.
This is the best method and you should try hard and do every method like steroid injections, physiotherapy, viscosupplementation to help avoid surgery then it is easier for your recovery.
If surgical repair remains the only solution your surgeon will go ahead.
If you are not convinced take a second opinion with another orthopedician.
Active sports persons would need immediate surgical repair.
Take care!
