Update, still no relief from the Synvic. I visited with my doctor 5/13/2011, had fluid removed and recieved a steroid injection. Was told early on in my treatment that if I did not get any relief I may need to consider knee replacement. I am at a point where I am so tired of the constant pain, the throbbing keeps me awake at night. I can't even walk up one flight of stairs. I am 56 and was quite active. My quality of life has certainly diminished.
I am not sure if your doctor has recommended you to get your knee operated in the recent future. A surgery may not be necessary if your joint is not too degenerated. Consult your doctor and let him/her know that you have no pain relief.
Also, remember that the replacement surgeries are carried out considering the age of the patient and this in turn is connected with the life of the implant (every implant has a particular life period). Hence, sometimes delaying the surgery is a sensible option and is done by giving injections like synvisc.
Do let us know about the inferences after you see your doctor.
