Well, yes, partial meniscectomy does increase the risk of osteoarthritis, especially in recreational runners. However, the actual risk varies from person to person. It depends on your family history, weight, other diseases you may have or develop, your foot wear, how you use the knee etc. Please discuss with your doctor. You doctor and physical therapist will be able to assess your risk and guide you regarding the best rehab and use of knee in your case. Take care!
