I went back to the doctor and he is taking a liver test. He said my alkalline phospotase was high. I told him it had been high for years. He gave me Strontium and wants me to come back in 7-8 weeks. He also wanted me to try the injections of Forteo but my Aunt had bone cancer in her hips so I am somewhat leary of that drug. Any info will be greatly appreciated as I am in really bad pain.
Hello!
Osteomalacia affects your bones and is most often due to a lack of vitamin D and sometimes due to mineral deficiency.
You can get it diagnosed by X-rays and mostly it is due to vitamin D deficiency in your diet or vitamin D absorption problems.
You can have proper dietary changes but daily supplements of vitamin D and calcium will be required as osteomalacia treatment.
For any complications follow up with an orthopedician.
Take care!
