Hi there!

Well, without knowing the relevant clinical details it would be difficult to comment specifically on the situation. Technically intervertebral disc bulge is an initial stage on IVDP and does not represent a serious condition. Though there are chances of progression, conservative management is best suitable for initial stages and may consist of an initial period of rest and anti-inflammatory medications followed by physiotherapy to strengthen the back muscles. It would be best to discuss the situation and the suggested management plan in detail with his treating doctor.
Hope this is helpful.

Take care!
