Dawn,
I was injured at work lifting a heavy tub, and I am now diagnosed with Scapular Winging with Thoracic Nerve Damage. I went to an Ortho who told me this is a very rare injury (also hard to find help). I went to another Ortho who told me that he could do a Pec Transfer with donated parts. He was very vague and left me with many questions unanswered. I have severe pain everyday, 24/7 which involves extreme muscle tightness, stabbing pains under scapula, numbness, tingling and some neck pain for other muscles trying to compensate. I have been doing research on a Dr. Nath in Houston TX. He has 50 patients that were kind enough to tell their stories and let you watch their recovery. I can't say that he is the answer but he is highly recommended and is a specialist. On his sight he has an email questionaire that you can fill out. I am waiting to see a response. Hang in there and keep looking there has got to be relief!

Hello Dawn,
Scapula is connected with neck vertebras, especially with C5, so is good to have x-rays of neck. Much better is, if you do MRI of all neck. For that you have visit also Neurologist and Orthopaedist.
I have this problem, my levator scapula is always swollen, and makes pressure to the neck muscles. Also down to the right shoulder joint. My supraspinatus hearts, if I press them.

I can't make it out from your description, but it sounds like you've only seen surgeons, perhaps in follow up of your scoliosis surgery? Physical medicine & rehabilitation (physiatrists) can help with these problems as well, and may be more interested.
