scapular pain and no answers

I have scapular winging on my right side from scoliosis which I has surgically corrected.  Its now been 13 years since my surgery however I'm having problem with my scapula.  I get a odd pain under my shoulder blade with increased activity along with numbess and tingling down the whole medial border of the scapula.  I went to 2 doctors and they told me to rest it and not weight lift anymore and the other one said its very tight and I need to stretch it.  I have been stretching with no relief.  In addition I have major upper trap, levator scap, and supraspinatus tightness wich is very tender when massaged.  Also, if someone touches the right spot where the pain in under my scapula it feels like some one is jabbing a knife through it and feels like there is some kind of bump.  I  have had x-rays done but nothing showed up.  I dont think its bony and the doc didnt do an MRI.  I think I should get one.  But any how, can somebody please let me know if they know anything about this problem or have experienced it and had treatment?  Ive completly stopped doing any weight lifting and my symptoms keep getting worse.  PLEASE HELP!!!

Dawn,

I was injured at work lifting a heavy tub, and I am now diagnosed with Scapular Winging with Thoracic Nerve Damage. I went to an Ortho who told me this is a very rare injury (also hard to find help). I went to another Ortho who told me that he could do a Pec Transfer with donated parts. He was very vague and left me with many questions unanswered. I have severe pain everyday, 24/7 which involves extreme muscle tightness, stabbing pains under scapula, numbness, tingling and some neck pain for other muscles trying to compensate. I have been doing research on a Dr. Nath in Houston TX. He has 50 patients that were kind enough to tell their stories and let you watch their recovery. I can't say that he is the answer but he is highly recommended and is a specialist. On his sight he has an email questionaire that you can fill out. I am waiting to see a response. Hang in there and keep looking there has got to be relief!

Hello Dawn,

Scapula is connected with neck vertebras, especially with C5, so is good to have x-rays of neck. Much better is, if you do MRI of all neck. For that you have visit also Neurologist and Orthopaedist.
I have this problem, my levator scapula is always swollen, and makes pressure to the neck muscles. Also down to the right shoulder joint. My supraspinatus hearts, if I press them.

I can't make it out from your description, but it sounds like you've only seen surgeons, perhaps in follow up of your scoliosis surgery?  Physical medicine & rehabilitation (physiatrists) can help with these problems as well, and may be more interested.
