Epidural PostSurgery

I am scheduled for surgey soon, toyal hysterectomy and then some. Anyways, Onc/surgeon is recommending epidural for pain management ( I control the drip, just as with Morphine, etc. drips) instead of the traditional pain med stuff. The cath will be in place before surgery so when I wake up in recovery, it is already in action. I love the idea, just wondering if anyone out there has had this experience post surgically? Thanks in advance

I had it for my surgery and it did a good job of managing my pain.  Initially it wasn't hitting everything but once I could move a bit it settled in.  I had a unique problem with mine.  Since I don't have a large bowel constipation is not a problem for me - I have the opposite problem and not so pleasant when you can't feel your behind!  You will do fine with this.

This is how my post surgery pain was managed for 3 days.  It worked very well, coming off was a bit difficult but obviously necessary.  I had a big drop in my BP and some fever associated with the morphine but otherwise it provided much needed pain relief.  Hoping your surgical outcome is optimal.
