Fluid build-up with Ovarian Cancer

BRAND NEW TO THIS SITE* Is it possible for the fluid build-up (ascites?) that is from the ovarian cancer to enter the lungs? Also when vomitting occurrs, does the fluid come out???  Learning more and more about the cancer every day. VERY curious and concerned about my mother who has stage 3c ovarian cancer, diagnosed in Feb, and had a total hysterectomy Feb 24. Waiting for our chemo apt within the next 2 weeks.  Help is appreciated!!

I think you need to insist she come to your house.  Tell her it is temporary.  That might help convince her.  It will be so much easier on you in your home to take care of her.  You MUST take care of yourself, too.  Marie

I am so glad I found this site,It's nice to know I am not alone..

My Mother is in the hospital right now,she is so sick with IV cancer
and I am beside myself she had her first chemo treatment and it made her ever sicker, she has been vomiting and pooing herself, she looks like death, she is 85 and I don't know how long she can last, she has had fluid drained twice in 4 days..It is such a helpless feeling to see her like this,She has always seemed healthy,They want to send her home Monday and I was a nurse aide for 13 years,so I guess I will be taking care of her,Only my house is bigger and I have an empty bedroom,But she don't want to come here, how do I convince her?I,m scared and my Sister is in denial about how bad this really is,,I just wish I had someone that could give me the answers..My life seems like it's on hold,,How do people deal with this? I am not sure how!

" How can she have cancer cells in her lung and they didnt confirm that it was cancer? thats confusing"

they said something like this to me at first and I found it very confusing. What we finally figured out was that I had cancer cells that were ovarian cancer cells that migrated through the fluid (acites) into that lung area BUT they were NOT cancer cells that were growing in my lungs. ...Maybe this is what was meant in this case.

I feel like a broken record about my aceties experience but I had major debulking surgury in October, started chemo in November and didn't get rid of my chest drain for the acites until late spring....it hangs on with some people excessively....it doesn't NECCESSARILY have long term implications...but it sure does suck for the short term.

All the best to your mom MDM...and be vocal for her...the fluid untreated can cause major complications....

Hi:) I would definitely get things checked out, they can do a CA125 test as a tumor marker test, to test blood levels, How can she have cancer cells in her lung and they didnt confirm that it was cancer? thats confusing... it may even be something else, so try to stay calm, and hang in there !  You could also try to find an oncologist that specializes in womens reproductive system, an GYN/ONCOLOGY.  they specialize in ovarian cancer. Best of luck to you and your Mom!! Hope everything goes well, my heart is with you...if you need anything let us know! We are here for you!

My mother was having trouble breather and was sent to a respitory clinic.  While she was there they did several tests including chest x-rays, ultrasound, ct scan, bone scan etc.  They found fluid in her right lung that had cancer cells but they confirmed it was not cancer.  She's be very tired lately and feeling bloated.  Could this be ovarian cancer?  She doesn't go in for her next appointment for a 1 week and I'm very scared.
