Avastin re-starts Tuesday...

I'm set to begin another 6 rounds of Avastin on Tuesday. I know I've been on it before, but it's been almost 5 months since I've had it last and I've got those first time jitters - you know the ones...
For those who don't know, I did have my nephrostomy tube removed a couple weeks back because of the immense pain I was in daily...it was awful. I know my kidney is backing up again, but this "discomfort" is much more manageable than the pain I was in with the tube. I'm meeting with a urological oncology surgeon on the 24th to talk about finally removing my kidney. I don't know that he'll agree to that, but I've had enough...I'm sick of being sick. I actually said to someone last week "why can't I just have cancer?"...how strange is that?! It's the truth though...
Anyways, that's my little update...I hope everyone is well. I know all you American's have a big day on Tuesday...I guess now, so do I!
Love Becky

Becky,
I hope that your chemo went well today. And I am glad that you are able to start on it again (the avastin) Now if it will just continue working. I have been told that I could go back on it in the future and that we can either try it by itself or combine it with something. I am a little afraid of doing just the avastin. But I do agree with Deandra, it was a very easy chemo to tolerate, and when it was combined with the abraxane, that combo worked longer for me than anything else I have been on.
Good to hear that you are not in so much pain and what you do have that you are able to handle.
I really do understand your comment about sick of being sick, and wondering why you can't just have cancer. I had the same conversation with TC while I was up there with her, she feels just the same.
I hope that the meeting with your surgeon on the 24th goes well.
Keeping you in my prayers.
  Love Chris

Hey Becky!
I just wanted to wish you good luck and to let you know that I have not felt this good with all the chemo drugs than I have with Avastin. I mean the fatigue is bad, but I can't really complain about any other side effects. I know you've been on it before, but I just want to reassure you that this drug has very few side effects. I'll be thinking and praying for you Becky - Love, D

I hope they can find yet another option for that kidney.  In the menatime, will keep you in my prayers for continued success with the Avastin.  I'm thinking  your bone marrow is probably in good shape, and hopefully all will go easily.  Judy

Hoping the Avastin route is a good one for you.  Wondering if OHIP is on board or do you have to foot the bill?   You're a few steps ahead of me in this battle so I watch with some self interest.
If your kidney is removed, will further chemo be an option?

All the best to you,
Sharon
