Thanks for sahring all you are gonig through. When we hear each other's stories, I think it makes us each stronger because we know we are not alone--so it isn't whining, it is validation of all our feelings!!
Your house sounds like my TOTAL DREAM!!
Hi Sonie...
I just wanted to say that I understand how you feel. When I got my cancer diagnosis, all my friends who used to come to me with their problems (ones in University and stressed out, ones living on her own for the first time and just got divorced and ones just ended a relationship) stopped coming to me. Here I was, at home with nothing to think about but cancer, and suddenly everyones life was great? I asked them all what was going on, and they all said "we don't want to come to you with our problems - how can I complain to you about how stressful school is when you have cancer?". Well you know what? That really ticked me off. Everyones problems are relative to their life's situation. Yeah, I have cancer and that sucks for me, but your incision and mrsa infection, that really sucks for you. My problems aren't anymore important than your's, just different. Please continue to post.
Becky
YAaaaaaAyyyAYyyy! So glad to hear that, you sounded so disheartened last time I heard from you.... Take care,
Love, Katie
I feel great! Finally on the mend. After the repair surgery, I went on the wound vac. It took 3 weeks, but I am off now. I had to go back to work so I was lugging that thing around. At first, I was really sorry I did this, even with the cancer scare. With the lousy periods I had, I am starting to feel like I did do the right thing. I guess I expected to rebound in a week. Thanks for asking. Deb
....and....how are YOU too? You had a rotten recovery too, I remember. Are you finally healing?
Katie
hey there katie...im glad to be talking to you too girl..im sorry about my post last night,i guess im getting a case of the oh poor pitiful me's and now im gonna waller in a poll of depression....ok,my new house...it is 6 bedrooms...2 baths.full basement..dinning room,a sitting room along with the usual living room and kitchen..it has a HUGE attic that runs the whole legnth of the house, that could so easily be made into a 7 bedroom if we chose to...it has a wrap around porch that warps around the whole entire house, and its in a upscale neighborhood here, and i got the house for a steal because its been o the market for quit a while, and the bank really wanted to get rid of it...oh yea,i have a fireplace too!!!!CAN YOU TELL IM EXCITED??lol
Hi Sonie
The house sounds so nice and having a veranda
going all the way around the house that sounds so nice.I'm so happy for you and your family.
Now i wish the houses here in OZ had basements and attics i could feel them up so easy with all the stuff we have.
I know this is going to sound strange but do you have laundrys in houses there? or is the basement where you put washing machine and dryers?
Mid from OZ
hey mid..some houses are different...some have laundry rooms, some have washer dryer hookups in the basement..thats where mine is at..im so glad ben does all the laundry and i dont have to..lol..some dont have any laundry abilities at all,and in that case, you have to go to the laundry mat.....sonie
Wow having to go the laundry mat with clothes all the time that would be a pain.
Now ok here is another question that is going to sound strange.
But do you all hang your clothes out on a clothesline or do you mostly use the dryer?
Do you need to do anything to the house at all?
Wow...Great advice Linda and Katie. Great details.
Of course, a plastic surgeon! I had scar revision surgery two times. The skin/fat got so very puffy on either side of the scar. And, even when I was heavier when I was younger, I had a flat stomach. This thing stood out like a sore thumb. I figured I would have to just deal with it, but finally I went to see someone about it (a plastic surgeon, board certified...great point, Linda). So, the doctor took care of the "poof" and the thing settled down. Several doctors noticed how raw and rough it looked (zipper style cut/scar) and I didn't think it would ever blend in with the rest of my body. But, in a way it has. Still can be noticed, but it is about 90 % better than 5 years ago.
You never know where these discussions will lead and how helpful almost anything can be to another person. Well, that's my saying for the day!
Take care!
Mary
most everyone uses a dryer..i think a few people still put out on the line..but nothing like they use ti back in the day..going to the laundry mat does such.ive had to do it before..it gets old real fast..we are going to lay ceramic tile in my kitchen and dinning room..put a new toilet in one of the bathrooms,i need to paint and wallpper the living room, the dinning room, the kitchen,2 of the bedrooms,i want to put a privacy fence up,and have new siding put on the house....moving is hard to do..especially with 7 kids,3 3 year olds, and no sitter at all...grrrrrr
DISCLAIMER: This is about nothing health-related other than my sanity!
Please...don't feel badly that you are talking about painting the rooms. Man, I was hooked on the copper walls and wheatgrass...and the fact that you all do this yourself. Seriously. My husband and I have huge painting issues. The man cannot decide which color white to put on the walls. I will not divulge how many years he has been trying to decide. I would do it in a heartbeat, at least I would have done it awhile back, but, well, he would have freaked out and at this point in my life, I am needing to get other things in my life in order. But, it still bugs me, obviously. All of my friends are prepared to come to my house when he takes our daughter back to college for her senior year and they will all have paint brushes in their hands. This I have been told.
Well, just my two cents on a thread that has provided me a brief respite. This was encouraging for me. There was that day back in 1991 when I hung 18 pictures on the walls in this house which we bought in 1989 (what is it with men and nail holes?) ...and, well, we just celebrated our 26th!
Oh Sonie, your house sounds great! I am so happy for you! All that room! WOW!! Good for you!
I moved in here over ten years ago, and STILL have tons of things I would love to change! Oh well eh. You'll LOVE ceramic tile (except when it was wet my kids used to come zooming around onto it and flip on their heads!)
GOSH 7 kids, 3 3 year olds...no sitter....you should get a medal!
no honey,no medal...i should get a big fat valium..lol
im going to be taking photos of before and after of the house,so i will post them on the msn site once i get them done
Sonie, right now, your biggest concern is the infection and its effects on the incision/healing.
While you might need to addresss the other problem (the new mass on the remaining ovary), since you did have a benign cyst previously, you are more likely to have another benign mass. I am beginning to think that having yet another cyst/mass is rather common in women for whom hormonal "issues and upsets" might or did contribute to the formation of the first cyst/mass. I state this because of observations...including the fact that I had two cysts late last year (one year after my surgery to remove that nasty endometrioma,) and because I once again have the symptoms of yet another cyst. Oh, poo (in a manner of speaking!!!)
At this point, I truly wish that I'd just had a hysto in 2004, so I would be done with the worry and these blasted medical expenses associated with all the problems I keep having 'down there'. I am sure that you can relate. I would truly like to sit down and have a chat with that woman who posts for the HERS foundation. I feel that she is missing the bigger picture with her mantra of no hysto. There is more to the issue that tissue biopsies!
Anyway, since I just had an ultrasound in February, I am much less worried about this one...but I will keep a check on things if I feel no signs of it resolving.
But enough about me, you're moving on top of all this other stuff going on in your life?! No wonder you are depressed. I would be stressed to the breaking point if I had to deal with a move, and I am not dealing with major, serious health issues too. Do you have lots and lots of help with this move?
I think regardless of which club any of us ends up in we all start out in the same one; we are all scared, lonely, whiney, bitchy and anxious. I believe this site is for all of us to share, laugh & cry together. My own journey has been put on hold because of my dh
I can not wait to see some photos of this house it just sounds so nice.
It must be hard moving with the kids and not having anyone to help mind the kids.
I would come help you if i could if i win lotto i will be there to give you a hand and i will take me hubby with me incase you need any plasterering done.
Sonie, after one of my surgeries (an ovary removal)I had tons of problems with it opening, infections, etc. (You know the drill). I was left with a huge red ugly bumpy lumpy scar, they called it fibrous tissue & also called it a large keloid. I had it injected (a LOT of injections) by a dermatologist with cortosone ... WOW did that hurt...but after some time it helped incredibly. It took a while to work completely. It softened up and sunk down, I was really happy. Before I had that done you could see it through some of my clothes... This was a while back, when I was a lot younger, not sure what they do in modern times!! lol
Gosh Girl I AM glad to be able to talk to you again!
Love Katie
PS tell us a teeny bit about the new house pleeeeese :-)
what happens if you are pretty thin??is it harder to do
lol..your not illiterate, just tired..i cant even spell that right..lolol...anyway..i never in a million years had thought of a plastic surgeon before, but i know im going to have to get the infection cleard up first before they do anything...but plastics would be great..on the edges where it has grown together..you would not believe how thick and big the scar is..im so not a vein person, but that part of the scar is unebeliveable.so it just makes me wonder how bad the part that wont close is going to be..im talkin, the sides are inches thick from scar..i also wonder and maybe you could tell me,is there more of a chance for to have scar tissue there because of all this???
thank you ladies...your posts have truely made me smile..LINDA!!i had never ever thought of that before...i am in ohio...in between dayton and cincinnati...how do i got about getting a plastic surgeon..i would give me eye teeth for this to all be done and behind me!!thank you so much...
